SHREVEPORT (KTBS) - An attempted bank robbery turned into a purse snatching Friday in Shreveport. Now a man is in jail, and a woman left pretty shaken up.
It happened around 11:45 this morning, at the Regions Bank in Shreveport.
Police say a man walked into the bank, handed a teller a note demanding money but then turned around and ran out without any cash.
Once outside, police say he told a woman that he had a gun, and to give him her purse. She refused, and police say at that point he attacked her, and was able to get away with her purse.
Witnesses chased him a short distance, and when he tripped they were able to detain him. An off-duty Shreveport police officer heard the commotion, and was able to make the arrest. The woman who was attacked was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
