Police: Dallas man crashes truck into Dallas mall

Posted: Updated:

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Police say a naked man crashed a pickup truck into a southwest Dallas mall, got out and started putting on clothes and shoes.

Police were called to the Southwest Center Mall at about 7:30 a.m. They say the man allegedly got behind the wheel of a pickup, covered only in a blanket and started driving toward the mall. He appears to have crashed the truck through the glass entrance doors and eventually ended up inside a Champs Sporting Goods store.

"He just took out some carts and kiosks and damaged some property within the mall. No one was injured," Southwest Center Mall General Manager Lisa Long said.

Once inside the sporting goods store, police say the unidentified man left his blanket in the truck and started putting on clothes and a pair of Air Jordan shoes.

Sources tell CBS 11 News the man had allegedly been involved in some type family altercation/incident earlier.  The man is also believed to be the person who allegedly attempted to force a random female driver out of her vehicle.  The woman in that incident resisted the would-be criminal and drove away.  She allegedly said the man was only wearing a blanket.

The suspect was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center by Dallas Fire Rescue. His condition isn't known.
