UPDATE: Escaped Bowie Co. inmate captured

(KTBS) - An inmate who escaped from the Bowie County Correctional Center is back in custody.

Marques Franklin, 17, was arrested just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening.

After a short foot chase in the Wake Village area, Officers say Franklin was taken into custody.

 


 

Authorities are searching for an inmate who has escaped from the Bowie County Correctional Center.

Sheriff officials say Marques Franklin, 17, returned to the jail with a sanitation crew around 5:30 Saturday morning, but was unaccounted for an hour later.

He is 5 foot 9 inches tall and weights approximately 120 pounds.

Officers found the dark blue shirt of his jail uniform in a nearby alley.

Franklin was being held on two counts of robbery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of evading arrest and failure to identify.

Charges of escape will be filed when he is apprehended.
