TYLER (KYTX) - How often do you get to see local bands, artists and films all in one place?
East Texans had that chance today at the second Allstar Showcase in Tyler with plenty to choose from for all palates.
Music, art and film, big time feel, all from East Texas.
"I have a lot of friends who have art displayed, films as well," says Jonathan Wilson, who came to support friends and all the local talent at the East Texas Allstar Showcase.
He says an event like this is important to gain exposure from all audiences.
"Part of the culture here, so a lot of supporters of this here too. Great to get together and do this kind of stuff," says Wilson.
"A lot of people come here that don't get to see us in the club scene because this is a lot more family friendly. Have a good time entertaining everybody," says Angelo Lopez with the Tyler band Something Blue.
They were just one of 15 acts to hit the stage and belt out their tunes to the audience.
"Little rushed, get on, get off, but a lot of fun and really enjoy it," says Lopez.
They were part of the event last year, when it began, and have seen it grow to include more artists and their work.
More than 25 painters, even sculptors auctioning off their work right in the heart of Downtown Tyler.
"Good for all the businesses too," says Wilson.
For those who came out to enjoy what the showcase has to offer, a good night for everything local, no matter where you decided to take it in.
"Walk around and enjoy the atmosphere," says Wilson.
Money raised from the art auction benefits the Liberty Hall Foundation.
All sponsors for the event were locally owned businesses.
