Entertainment News: "Ice Age" heats up weekend box office

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - The latest film in the "Ice Age" franchise gave the box office competition a chill. The animated "Ice Age: Continental Drift" won the weekend, with an estimated $46-million dollars in ticket sales. "The Amazing Spider-Man" dropped to second place in its second weekend in theaters. But the super-hero remake still caught another $35-million dollars in its web. And "Ted," the story of a foul-mouthed teddy bear from "Family Guy"-creator Seth MacFarlane, rounded out the top three.

(CBS) - "American Idol" has two empty chairs to fill at the judges' table. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are leaving the show after two seasons. Producers are reportedly talking to Mariah Carey about joining the show. Adam Lambert fans are pushing for the one-time contestant to return as a judge.

(CBS) - Bruce Springsteen may call himself "The Boss," but it appears even he isn't in control of when his concerts end. Springsteen and his "E Street Band" were playing a cover of "Twist and Shout" with former Beatle Paul McCartney when the audio suddenly went out.  The Westminster City Council later tweeted that organizers had ended the show because it ran over curfew. Springsteen is known for his marathon concert sets. A show last month in Spain went on for nearly four hours.
