LONGVIEW (KYTX) -- Longview police confirm an officer is on paid leave after Upshur County sheriff's deputies arrested him this weekend.

42-Year-old Aulderson Levi Franklin, Jr, a Longview police officer, is charged with assault of a family member for impeding breath.

He was booked into jail early Sunday morning.

Longview police say Franklin will remain on paid leave during an internal investigation.
