UPDATE: TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH - A 34-year-old Tyler man riding on a motorcycle was killed on Wednesday night when the driver of a pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer made a U-turn in front of him, according to information received from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Anthony Todd Wilkerson was pronounced dead at East Texas Medical Center hospital at 8:24 p.m. after the accident, which happened on U.S. Highway 271 North, four miles north of Tyler. There were no other injuries reported.

The driver was wearing a helmet, and the conditions of the road were clear and dry, according to the DPS.

The driver of the truck was cited for an unsafe turn, DPS Cpl. Nicholas Castle said on Wednesday night. DPS and the Winona Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

Smith County (KYTX) - DPS tells us a man who hit a truck pulling a trailer Wednesday afternoon has died. The accident happened around 7 on Highway 271 just north of Highway 155. Right now, we don't know the man's identity. SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - A man is in the hospital tonight after his motorcycle hit a pick up truck pulling a trailer.


It happened around 7 this evening on Highway 271 just north Highway 155.

DPS say says a man driving a truck tried to turn around on the highway, when a man on a motorcycle hit him.

Paramedics took the motorcycle rider to the hospital by helicopter with unknown injuries.

He did wear a helmet.

The truck driver got a ticket for making an unsafe turn.
