(KYTX) - Summer may mean your kids are outside more often, and possibly seen by predators.
Two girls in two different states were nearly abducted this week and it was caught on surveillance video.
You can see a man come up behind a 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl and grab her.
"When I saw the video, I went from wanting to cry to wanting to hurt the person who did this to you child," says the girl's father.
"He told me he had a movie for me," says Kiley, who you can see run away from a man in a van in Connecticut.
Both attempted kidnappings caught on neighbors surveillance video.
"The moment you start fighting back, it changes the dynamics of the situation," says Brandon Jones, owner of Tyler Kung Fu & Fitness.
Jones teaches self defense to kids.
He says what the girls did is right, fight to get away, scream, kick and hit.
"The bad guys do not want to cause attention to themselves, they want to get you quickly and quietly and get out of there. The more noise you draw to yourself, the better," says Jones.
Jones says although a whistle is effective because the noise will draw attention, kids may forget to use it.
"No fair game when it comes to getting away from a person and as soon as you get away, go to the first adult and say, I need help, call police," says Officer Don Martin with Tyler Police.
So however you teach your kids to get away, the best advice is still to run.
Because the attacker may try anything he can, even with cameras rolling nearby.
"As traumatic as it is, thank God she's here today," says the Pennsylvania girl's father.
Police say teens and adults can also carry mace for protection.
