Tyler Fire Department puts out early morning fire at Hollytree Country Club

Posted: Updated:
TYLER (KYTX) - The Tyler Fire Department responded to a two-alarm structure fire this morning around 5:00 a.m. at the Hollytree Country Club in Tyler.

Employees at the country club reported the fire, which started in the kitchen.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke showing from the structure.

A fast interior attack was made and the second alarm was called when firefighters discovered fire in the attic area.

The fire originated in a deep fryer.  The automatic fire extinguishing system in the kitchen did not activate, but the exhaust fan in the kitchen vent hood evacuated most of the heat and smoke, which prevented further smoke damage to the rest of the building and allowed firefighters to access the seat of the fire.

The automatic fire sprinkler system activated.  Heat caused the fire to spread into the attic. Firefighters extinguished the fire and removed water from the kitchen and ballroom areas.
