Health Alert: Vitamins may reduce pancreatic cancer risk

(CBS) -Vitamins C, E and Selenium could help reduce the risk of getting pancreatic cancer. A new study says the anti-oxidents may cut the risk up to two-thirds. Pancreatic cancer kills more than a 250-thousand people worldwide every year. Researchers say the anti-oxident supplements may neutralize cancer-causing compounds and help stimulate the body's immune system.

(CBS) - New research finds two out of three very obese children already have at least one risk factor for heart disease. Researchers in the Netherlands looked at 500 very obese children ages 2 to 18 over several years. They found more than half had high blood pressure and more than half had high levels of the so-called bad cholesterol.

(CBS) - People who undergo hip or knee replacement surgery are at an increased risk for a heart attack in the first two weeks following the operation. A new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine says the risk is greatest for patients 80 years or older. There was no increased risk for patients who were younger than 60.
