Presidential candidates shift campaigns into high gear

RENO, Nev. (KYTX) - The two presidential candidates are shifting the campaign back into high gear.

At a fundraiser in California, President Obama told supporters not to believe what they hear in his opponent's ads.

"When folks just omit entire sentences of what you said, they start kind of splicing and dicing. You may have gone a little over the edge there," Obama told supporters.

The president addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars at their convention in Reno.

Touting his commitment to the military and success winding down the war in Iraq.

"Today, there are no Americans fighting in Iraq, and we are proud of all the Americans who served there."

Mitt Romney is talking to the same group of veterans today. And he's ready to challenge the president's record on defense and foreign policy.

"In dealings with other nations, he has given trust where it is not earned, insult where it was not deserved and apology where it is not due," Romney said.

Romney criticized the president for across-the-board spending cuts the defense department will face in a few short months, and he pointed the finger at the White House for leaks about the Osama bin Laden raid and other top-secret security operations.

"What kind of white house would reveal classified material for political gain," Romney said. "I'll tell you right mow mine will not."
