NACOGDOCHES (KYTX) - Nacogdoches Police Department's K-9 team confiscated 50 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop today.

Officer Brian Eggebrecht with his partner, Hanna, stopped a 2007 Chevy Impala for a traffic violation early Thursday morning on NW Stallings Drive in Nacogdoches. Upon contact with the driver and passenger, Eggebrecht smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle.

After a voluntary consent to search was given, Eggebrecht located 50 lbs of marijuana in the trunk of the car. The driver, Veronica Marie Hagberg, and passenger, Edgar Lopez, were arrested and transported to the Nacogdoches County Law Enforcement Center and charged with possession of marijuana, a third degree Felony.
