KAUFMAN COUNTY (KYTX) - Authorities here are pursuing an animal cruelty case after finding earlier today a deceased dog with its mouth taped shut.

"We are vigorously investigating this," Kaufman County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Pat Laney said. "Anyone with information they think might be connected is urged to call the sheriff's office."

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office can be reached at (972) 932-4337.

The SPCA of Texas has offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.

Laney said no other information including the location where the dog's body was found has been released. The body has been set to animal care center in Dallas for a necropsy, she said.
