UPDATE July 30, 2012: Longview Police Department:

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Police have identified a suspect in the hit and run that killed pedestrian Jason Johnson 20, of Longview. Witnesses came forward and identified the suspect and police are continuing to investigate this case. No arrests have been made at this time.

LONGVIEW (KYTX) – A 20-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run early today, and police have few leads in finding the suspect.

Longview police spokeswoman Kristie Brian said Jason Lee Johnson was found in a field across from the police station in the 300 block of West Cotton Street some time after midnight. He had apparently been walking westbound with a vehicle hit him and failed to stop and render aid.

Johnson was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center but later died from his injuries.

Police are looking for a vehicle that should have significant right front headlight damage, but that is the extent of the vehicle description they have. There are also no witnesses at this time, Brian said.

Longview Police are asking for anyone with information about this incident to contact Officer Brandon Thornton at 903-237-1196. If the tipster wishes to remain anonymous they can also contact Gregg County Crimestoppers at 903-236-STOP(7867) or submit a tip online at www.greggcountycrimestoppers.org.
