Nationwide drought affecting food prices

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) - Most of the country is melting under extreme heat and drought conditions, so don't be surprised if you see a drought in your wallet, too.

Since corn and other crops are withering and dying in the heat, food prices are expected to shoot up. But that's not all, the Department of Agriculture says it's going to happen to meat prices too.

You can also expect to pay more for eggs, cheese and milk.  The USDA has declared more than 1,300 counties across 31 states as disaster areas this year because of heat and drought.
