Kaufman (KYTX) - During a routine traffic stop one man was arrested on drug charges. On July 27, 2012 at approximately 4:42 p.m. a Kaufman County deputy stopped a 1996 blue Jeep Cherokee for traffic violations.
As the deputy was questioning the driver Justin E. Thornberry of Mabank, the deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle and the suspect told the deputy no. The officer initiated a K-9 free air sniff on the outside of the vehicle and just before the search, the suspect admitted to having marijuana in his console of his vehicle. The K-9 dog did hit on the driver side of the door and during the search of the vehicle; the deputy found marijuana where the suspect said it was.
Arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana under Two oz., Justin E. Thornberry, 22, of Mabank Texas. Thornberry was also wanted on ten outstanding warrants from different Police Department. Three of the warrants were from Mabank Police Department, Four warrants from Gun Barrel Police Department, and three warrants from Seven Points Police Department.
Thornberry was transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center where he was released on a $7,634.00 bond.
