Smith County commissioners ok 2 alcohol proposals for Nov. ballot

Posted: Updated:
SMITH COUNTY (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Smith County commissioners today approved placing two local-option alcohol proposals on the November ballot.

The vote came despite an opposition group's contention that not all the signatures on the petition to call the election were valid.

One of the proposals up for consideration was for the legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption in Justice of the Peace Precinct 2. The other was for extending the legal sale of mixed beverages in restaurants within the limits of that precinct.
