College student drives off cliff while texting

HOUSTON (CNN) - A college student says he's lucky to be alive after a terrible crash. He was texting while driving and ended up going over a cliff.

The accident happened 6 months ago. 21 year old Chance Bothe was on his way home at the time. One of the last things he typed was -- "I need to quit texting because I could die in a car accident." Seconds later he plunged off a bridge and into a ravine. He suffered a broken neck, a crushed face, a fractured skull and traumatic brain injuries. Chance is using his scars to send a powerful message to others.

"They just need to understand don't do it.Don't do it. It's not worth losing your life. I'm very lucky that I'm not gone forever. That I still have things to do on this world."

Chance has spent the last six months in rehab where he learned to talk and walk again.
