LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Longview Police want to know who was found dead outside a restaurant, and how he died.
CBS 19's Jennifer Heathcock went to the Buffalo Wild Wings on North Eastman Road to get the latest on the gruesome discovery.
"I didn't see no body, I just smelled it," says Kerry Whitaker, who ate at Buffalo Wild Wings.
That smell is what caught Whitaker off guard after he ate at Buffalo Wild Wings on North Eastman Road in Longview Thursday.
A restaurant customer found a body, just below the retaining wall in front of the restaurant, in the grass away from where drivers could see.
"I was coming from Khol's and everything, just didn't expect a dead body over here," says Whitaker.
We could see cuts on the man's legs and blood on his head, but police don't know yet how he died.
"The subject has been there for a while, we're not sure how long," says Officer Kristie Brian with Longview Police Department.
Officers continued their investigation while the restaurant kept its doors open.
"We didn't need to shut down Buffalo Wild Wings down, didn't involve them at this point," says Ofc. Brian.
The manager of Buffalo Wild Wings spoke to us off camera, he says several customers came in asking about a man outside the restaurant, saying they didn't think he was ok and called 911.
The man's body was loaded up and taken to Tyler for an autopsy, and investigators asking for help identifying him.
"If anybody has any information, know someone in this area, a missing person. That's one of the things that we're going to look at is missing persons in the area. But at this point, we don't have a whole lot," says Ofc. Brian.
Leaving many unanswered questions for investigators and customers.
"One of those days that catches you off guard, really," says Whitaker.
If you have any information on what happened, or who the man may be, you're asked to call Longview Police.
