VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KYTX) - Van Zandt county investigators need your help finding a man they believe shot and killed a Ben Wheeler couple.
Investigator believe they'd been dead at least 9 days. A family member found the bodies of Peter and Latricia Shick in their home Friday.
Family members and friends gathered at the home of Peter and Latricia Shick just three days after their bodies were found.
74-year-old Peter found in his bedroom, 55-year-old Latricia found in the kitchen, both shot to death.
We spoke with the Shick family off camera. They're say they're still in shock over the couples murder.
At a press conference Monday morning, Van Zandt county investigators stressed the importance of trying to find 31-year-old Donny Lee Greenhow.
"We need this subject in custody before he commits another offense and there is a great likelihood that's going to happen," said Sheriff Pat Burnett.
Investigators believe Greenhow stole the Shicks' Dodge truck. It was found August 1st in Waco.
Investigators said Greenhow had possibly stolen multiple guns and cars in the past few weeks.
A black SUV towed away from the home Friday was part of the evidence that lead to Greenhow. It was stolen from Kaufman County.
"At this time, we do know that over the last month he has hit several different places and been kind of moving from one to another," said Investigator Sam Mayer.
Greenhow was no stranger to the Shicks. Investigators said he was once a family friend.
"They were real nice folks," said Tompkins.
Neighbor Bill Tompkins said Greenhow graduated from Van High School and might have known the Shicks' children.
Tompkins said he saw Greenhow the week of the murder.
"I remember seeing him up there at Sam's. He came in there and got a coke the same week this all happened," said Tompkins.
Right now, no one is sure of a reason for this deadly shooting.
"This is highly unusual because there is no clear motive at this time," said Sheriff Burnett.
