GILMER (KYTX) - Upshur County Republican Party Chairman Ken Ambrose issued the following statement today regarding Tuesday's primary runoff elections:

"I would like to thank all of the workers/volunteers who, in the face of all of the complexity of the recent redistricting, made this runoff election a complete success.  As a judge in the early voting ballot board and the central counting station judge representing the Republican Party,  I believe I can say with full confidence that all of the participating election judges, election clerks, volunteers, county employees and others, both Democrat and Republican. who worked so well together to make this election as nearly flawless as I can recall in any election we have had in Upshur County.

"Out of the 4,851 votes cast from the possible 26,200 registered voters in our county, I am pleased to report an 18.52% turnout which, considering all of the obstacles we have faced in uncertainty about not only when but whether or not there would even be a primary election this year, would have to be considered an outstanding performance.  Add to that the possibility (and I reiterate the word possibility) that 4 ballots may have been cast improperly for one voting box would have had no effect on the final  outcome of any of the races.  That is an accuracy percentage of better than 99.999 percent.

"After reviewing  the election results, tabulation, observing the return of equipment, election materials and ballots,  I will say with glowing pride that everyone did their very best.   I am proud to call Upshur County Texas home. Thank You and  God Bless Texas."
