EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - As of 10:59 p.m., AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co. reported power outages more than 5,000 homes and businesses in three East Texas counties.
SWEPCO reported 3,682 customers without power in Gregg County, 1,065 power outages in Harrison County, and 680 customers without power in Upshur County. Shortly before 10 p.m., several trees in the Gladewater area were reported down from 40 MPH winds.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for northern Rusk County, extreme southern Gregg County, western Smith County and northeastern Cherokee County until 11:30 p.m.
At 10:29 p.m., National Weather Service meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph about eight miles northeast of Joinerville, near Henderson.
EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Storms that have already knocked out electricity for thousands of Northwest Louisiana residents in entering the Longview area.
An outflow boundary from the storms, now centered over western Harrison County and eastern Upshur County, blew gusts into northern Longview at about 9:40 p.m. KYTX CBS 19 Meteorologist Doc Deason reported at about 9:30 tonight that the outflow boundary stretched from Bettie in Upshur County to northeast Shelby County.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Cass, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Panola, Rusk, Upshur and Shelby counties until 10 p.m.
At 9:25 p.m., a line of thunderstorms capable of damaging winds in excess of 60 MPH were detected along a line from Ore City to about four miles west of Marshall, traveling southwest at about 20 MPH.
Nearly 13,000 customers in Caddo and Bossier parishes are without power, according to ADEP Southwestern Electric Power Co. No outages have been reported in northeast Texas.
