UPDATE: On Saturday at approximately 8 p.m., Harrison County 911 operators received a call regarding a shooting at 329 Floyd Evans Rd., Marshall.
Upon arrival deputies were met by the owner of the residence, 60-year-old James Earl Rudd. Deputies observed the victim, 58-year-old Curtis Jerome Roberts on the ground and bleeding from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest.
Deputies began administering first aid to the victim and securing the scene, while other deputies placed the owner of the residence in a squad car and interviewing witnesses. Deputies then dispersed the crowd that had gathered at the scene. Rudd was placed under arrest and transported to the Harrison County Jail.
During interviews at the scene, witnesses stated that there had been a party at the residence and Rudd allegedly had an argument with Roberts earlier in the afternoon. Rudd told Roberts to leave and began to argue with the victim. Witnesses stated Rudd allegedly retrieved a shotgun and confronted the victim with the gun and after more arguing, Roberts was allegedly shot in the chest by Rudd.
Judge Westy Meisenheimer pronounced the victim dead at the scene at approximately 9:15 p.m. and ordered an autopsy. An investigation is continuing and the owner of the residence, Rudd, was booked into the Harrison County Jail on a single charge of murder.
ELYSIAN FIELDS (KYTX) - Harrison County sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide reported Saturday night.
Deputies were called to a home on Floyd Evans Road near Elysian Fields in reference to a shooting. They arrested James Ruddy for fatally shooting his nephew in the chest following an argument over a game of dominoes, authorities said.
No other details have been released.
