LONGVIEW (KYTX) - After the pools close for the summer, the City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department will host the Dog Days of Summer (Dog Swim) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11. The special event will be held at Longview Swim Center, 1111 W. Fairmont.   The cost will be $3 per dog and owners will enter free of charge.  A free tennis ball will be given to the first 50 dogs.

Dogs must have tags and show proof of current rabies vaccinations to enter the pool.   Any dog showing aggression or a female in season will not be allowed in the pool.  Owners may wade in the pool but will be asked not to swim. Owners should also ensure their dog is on a leash when not in the water.

According to Recreation Manager Seth Pyle, "The Dog Days of Summer event is a really fun way to close out the summer pool season. We encourage people to bring their dogs for a day at the pool."

There will be door prizes and refreshments for participating pooches.  For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 903-237-1270.
