Lightning strike reported near Lufkin hospital

LUFKIN (KYTX) - Lufkin Police Department is reporting that a lightning strike near Memorial Medical Center on West Frank Street has caused some power outages in the city, according to information from the National Weather Service.

Oncor is reporting more than 220 customers in the Lufkin area without power.

Another 1,100 customers are without power in the Edom and Brownsboro areas west of Tyler, Oncor reports.

Also, Nacogdoches County law enforcement has reported several trees down from thunderstorm wind damage on FM 2863 about two miles south of Nacogdoches. More than 3,400 customers are without power in the county.

Nearly 200 customers in Panola County are without power, according to AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co.

A severe thunderstorm warning earlier tonight in Nacogdoches and Angelina counties has expired. However, a strong storm remains over western portions of Angelina County, radar indicates.
