UPDATE: DPS identifies teen bicyclist killed on Texas 31

UPDATE: DPS has told KYTX CBS 19 reporter Melissa Daigle at the scene that the bicyclist killed was 15-year-old Martin Guiterrez, of San Antonio. Guiterrez was not wearing a helmet when he collided with a sanitation truck on Texas 31 West. He died at the scene.

Guiterrez was in East Texas visiting relatives and was riding a bike in the area. Family members went looking for him when he had not returned to them before sundown, and they arrived at the scene, one woman recognized him by a gold chain he was wearing.


 

TYLER (KYTX) - According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a bicyclist died tonight when he collided with a motor vehicle on Texas 31 West at Greenbriar Road near the Tyler city limits.

No other injuries were reported and no information on the deceased bicyclist was available. The collision occurred shortly before 8:40 p.m.
