GILMER (KYTX) - An East Texas man remains in police custody today after a wreck and bomb scare in Gladewater on Tuesday night.
Josh Hadley, 20, is being held on charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, accident involving damage and driving without a license, Gladewater's Assistant Police Chief Clay Robertson said.
About 7 p.m. Tuesday night, Hadley fled the scene of a rollover in the 500 block of Shell Camp Road in Gladewater, according to Robertson. Hadley was arrested shortly after leaving the scene and charged with resisting arrest.
When police arrived, officers found a black pipe with caps at either end that looked similar to a pipe bomb, Robertson said. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Tyler was contacted, and the pipe was found not to be a bomb.
Robertson said it is instead believed to have been used as storage of narcotics as some residue was found on it, leading police to also charge Hadley with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hadley is expected to be booked into the Gregg County Jail later this week.
