Storms knock out power for many across East Texas

UPDATE: EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Not uncommon, but the Tyler Police Department and the Smith County Sheriff's office says they have responded to several fender-bender in the last hour due to slippery roads caused by the recent rain fall.

They say as a reminder please drive safely on these East Texas roads.

Oncor is still reporting many customers without power throughout East Texas.

Tyler has 1900 without power, Palestine 970, Jacksonville 230, and Whitehouse has 115. Oncor says all power should be restore in a couple of hours.

 


EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - The severe thunderstorm storms that blew through the area around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon caused power-outages throughout Smith County.

Charles Hill with Oncor says about 4,300 customers in Smith County area are without power mostly due to high winds and trees on power lines. Angelina County has 694 customers without power. 

In the Flint/Gresham area, trees have blocked portion of FM 346 near Highway 69 south.
Swepco is reporting 151 customers without power in Rusk County.

Electric company crews are in those area restoring power. The Smith Fire Marshall's office advise drivers to be careful and watchful for falling power lines,trees and debris.
