Suspect wanted for murder in south Texas apprehended in Nacogdoches

NACOGDOCHES (KYTX) - On Wednesday around 7 p.m., Nacogdoches Police Department was alerted by a broadcast from the US Marshal's Office about a suspect wanted for murder on a charge from Alice, Texas.

A description was provided of the suspect and the suspect vehicle.

Approximately 40 minutes after the initial broadcast, a Nacogdoches Police officer on patrol spotted the vehicle southbound on the west loop in the 3200 block of South Street also known as US Hwy 59.

The officer confirmed that the vehicle was in fact the one given in the broadcast in reference to the homicide suspect.

A coordinated felony traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of South Street and Loop 224 where the suspect, David Cantu, Jr. was arrested without incident. He is currently being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail awaiting to be extradited.

Cantu's bonds are set at $1,000,000.00 each.
