UPDATE: The driver of the truck that struck a DPS trooper's car has been identified as 64-year-old Donna Young of Gilmer.

Young was sent to ETMC in Gilmer with non-life threatening injuries.

GILMER (KYTX) - A DPS Trooper is in the hospital after a collision with another vehicle Friday morning.

According to DPS, Trooper Drew Nipp's patrol car was T-boned while trying make a u-turn on Hwy 271 in pursuit of another vehicle.

A truck following behind struck the trooper's car on the driver's side door.

The driver of that truck was taken to ETMC in Gilmer.

Trooper Nip was transported to Good Shepherd in Longview.

Both people involved had non-life threatening injuries. Authorities are investigating the collision. No charges have been filed.
