Prepackaged apple slices recalled for listeria concerns - KYTX CBS 19 Tyler Longview News Weather Sports

(CNN) - Some sliced apples sold at McDonald's and Burger King are part of a nearly nation-wide recall.

Sliced or diced apples may have been contaminated with listeria before being shipped all over the country.  A subsidiary of Ready Pac has recalled nearly 300-thousand cases and 300-thousand individually packaged items.

An estimated 36 states received shipments. Listeria can cause potentially serious or life-threatening illness accompanied by fever, nausea, or diarrhea.
