Neighbors speak out on deadly shooting near Texas A&M

Posted: Updated:

COLLEGE STATION (KYTX) - Roads around the Texas A&M campus are still closed this morning as police continue to gather evidence into yesterday's shooting. 3 people were killed including a Brazos County constable.

The man who went on that shooting rampage has been identified as 35 year old Thomas Caffall. He was also shot and killed.

CBS19's Courtney Friedman was in College Station Monday. She spoke with neighbors who say the whole thing was terrifying.

Caffall's mother issued a statement through her attorney. She says quote, "Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of the deceased and the wounded victims. He had been ill.  It breaks our hearts his illness led to this."

An army medic in the neighborhood says he performed CPR on the constable and the suspected gunman. He says before dying, Caffall asked him to apologize to the constable.
