LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A Longview teenager took a page from the "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" story, but police said the bed that was just right for him was in at the Gregg County Jail.
At about 4 a.m. Monday, a woman living at Churchill of Longview apartments in the 1500 block of East Whaley Street heard two men kicking and beating on her front door. Not knowing who the men were, the woman told police that she got off her couch and hid under her bed.
According to arrest records, the two men broke through her rear patio door, and though she recognized one of the men's voice as that of Devon Anthony Benton, she remained hid. About two hours later, she called police after Anthony fell asleep in her bed.
"The victim advised that Devon does not live there and has no right to be at this location. She did not give him permission to come to her residence and was unaware that he was doing so," police stated in their report.
Benton, 18, of Longview, remains in the Gregg County Jail on $1,000 bond today.
