LONGVIEW (KYTX) - An East Texas felon on parole is back in jail today facing a host of new charges.

According to Gregg County Jail records, Longview police arrested 44-year-old Staves Wayne Gillispie, of Carthage, formerly of Gilmer, at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Bond was set at $4,500 on charges of evading arrest and detention in a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and driving with an invalid license with previous convictions for the same charge, along with failure to maintain financial responsibility.

Gillispie is also being held without bond on two blue warrants from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Gregg County District Judge Alfonso Charles convicted Gillispie in October 2010 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and sentenced him to four years in prison. He was released from prison as early as May 15, when White Oak police arrested him for having a counterfeit motor vehicle inspection sticker. He posted $750 bond from the jail that same day, records showed.
