It's Time Texas: Senior diets

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Serving a balanced, healthy meal is a real priority at Buckner Westminster Place for their seniors.

A good diet in your later years has proven to reduce seniors risk of osteoporosis, high blood pressure, heart disease and certain cancers.

Chef Kurt Anderson puts great care into what he cooks the residents, taking into account a variety of health issues.

At 95, Eunice Nettles doesn't take any medicine, but she does get a daily dose of exercise.

Three days a week she also takes an exercise class.

Here at Buckner athletics, they're still using weights, resistance bands and exercise balls. They're just sitting to do it.

With the help of rehab care, Buckner Westminster place keeps a pulse of James Anderson and his fellow resident's fitness with a fit test.

And that gives these seniors a better quality of life as they age.
