STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (KYTX) - Lawyers for former Penn State Athletic Director Tim Curley and Vice President Gary Schultz are trying to clear their clients in the sex abuse scandal that stunned the university.

The men are charged with perjury — accused of not telling a grand jury that they knew Jerry Sandusky may have been sexually abusing a child on the campus back in 2001.

They're also charged with failing to report to authorities what then-grad student Mike Mcquery told them about seeing Sandusky in a shower with a boy.

Curley's attorney says it's a matter of interpretation.

The judge made no decision about dropping the charges. And it's still not clear if the case may be settled before a full trial.

A Penn State trustee was in court — concerned about continued negative publicity for the school.

Sandusky will be sentenced next month — convicted of abusing ten boys.

Right now, Sandusky is in solitary confinement not far from the campus.
