Police: Child sex assault suspect arrested for shoplifting

TYLER (KYTX) - A Tyler man awaiting trial on multiple child indecency and sex assault charges was arrested Thursday for shoplifting.

According to online media reports, personnel at Wal-Mart in the 3800 block of West Erwin Street noticed Michael Alan Kamin trying to steal a 16-foot extension ladder and an exterior locking door knob. Police arrested 27-year-old Kamin at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, and he was released from the Smith County Jail on $500 bond shortly before midnight.

This is Kamin's third arrest by Tyler police in the past 12 months, including a January arrest on a two counts of sexual assault of a child and four counts of indecency with a child-sexual contact out of Frisco. According to online Collin County court records, he is scheduled for an Oct. 22 jury trial.

Kamin was out of jail on $50,000 bond prior to his shoplifting arrest Thursday.
