Two killed in two-vehicle accident near Jacksonville

Posted: Updated:

JACKSONVILLE (KYTX) - Two East Texans are dead after being involved in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning.

The Jacksonville Police Department tell CBS 19 that 26-year old John Klueppel and 22-year old Ryan Campos were driving northbound on U.S. Highway 69, when their 2002 Lexus was hit by a 2011 Ford pickup.

Jacksonville P.D. says the Ford pickup was driven by Roland Odum and that he was traveling northbound and swerved into the southbound lanes.

Klueppel and Campos were pronounced dead at the scene. Odum was transported to East Texas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Jacksonville P.D. would not say if alcohol was involved in the wreck, and say they will continue investigating the cause of the accident.

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly identified the first name of the man driving the Ford truck as Ronald. Jacksonville Police said Sunday that Roland is the correct first name.
