Man rescued after being trapped in well - KYTX CBS 19 Tyler Longview News Weather Sports

LITTLE ROCK, CA (CNN) -- Rescue workers in California made a dramatic rescue Saturday night after they worked to free a man stuck in a well.

The man fell in the well while trying to retrieve something that fell down the shaft. Crews members were able to keep the victim calm while others put equipment in place to pull off the rescue. After a few tries they were able to successfully, pull the man from the well.

Officials say if it wasn't for a group of alert people the man could have remained in the well for a very long time.

"He's been in there approaching 24 hours," a firefighter said on the scene. "He was discovered by some horseback riders that heard someone yelling."

The man was transported to a local hospital. He's expected to make a full recovery.
