UPDATE: 1 person dies in early morning house fire in Gladewater

UPDATE: EAST TEXAS (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A 61-year-old woman was killed this morning when a fire consumed the doublewide mobile home where she lived.

Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton said a neighbor in the 1600 block of County Road 3110 heard loud pops. After looking out a window, she saw the home next to her on fire.
Seaton said Gladewater Fire was the first on the scene about 3:30 a.m. and found the home totally involved in fire.

"They made an attack and did what they could do, but the home was lost," he said.

Seaton said when they determined the car in the driveway belonged to the couple that lived at the residence, they began looking through the debris.

"The husband was found in Good Shepherd Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment for an unrelated matter. We did however, find her body in the debris," he said.

Seaton said the woman was found adjacent to a chair in the back bedroom.

Fire departments from Jackson and Winona also worked the fire.

Seaton said the woman, whose identity is not being released at this time, was sent for an autopsy.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

UPDATE: EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Fire officials tell CBS 19 that one person died inside the Gladewater home that caught fire early Monday morning.

Neighbors tell CBS 19 that they heard an explosion and tried to get in but the flames were too large to enter. 

The other person that lived in the home is in the hospital for unrelated reasons.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

 


 

EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Fire crews were called out to a house fire in Smith County. It happened just before 3:30 this morning on County Road 3110, that's in the Gladewater area.

Right now, there are no details on any injuries, but the Smith County Sheriff's Department says the home was fully engulfed when firefighters got to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
