LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A Kilgore teenager who was wanted on multiple misdemeanor charges has three felony charges added to his docket after Longview police said he attacked an officer.

Coleton Ford Wallace, 19, remains in the Gregg County Jail on $40,500 bond, charged with assault on a public servant, attempt to take a weapon from an officer, evading arrest with a prior conviction on the same charge and outstanding warrants for habitual theft and failure to identify a fugitive by giving false information.

According to police records, Longview patrol officers were traveling east on North Access Road near Estes Parkway shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday when they passed a red Dodge truck traveling west on North Access Road. Officers also noticed a 15-year-old juvenile laying the truck's bed.

During a traffic stop, officers learned from dispatch that the truck's driver, Wallace, had two outstanding warrants. When they removed Wallace from the vehicle, he ran from police. Officers caught Wallace, who began to fight the officers. One officer deployed his Tazer at Wallace, but Wallace grabbed the Tazer with both hands and began pulling in an attempt to take it away, according to records. Officers eventually gained control of Wallace and placed him in handcuffs.

Officer David Lindsey was injured during the assault and was treated for a minor injury and released from Longview Regional Medical Center, according to Longview PD spokeswoman Debra Stiles. Police have not said whether the officer was released from the hospital.
