BOSSIER CITY/BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KYTX) - Bossier City police are investigating a crash involving a train and an SUV that happened on Beverly Street at Barksdale Boulevard.

Police responded to the scene at 2:40 this afternoon. The driver of a Suzuki XL-7 was taken to Christus-Schumpert Main in Shreveport with a minor head injury. She was the only occupant.

Witnesses say the southbound KCS freight train was sounding its horn as it approached the crossing. The train was traveling approximately 10 mph when it hit the SUV on his rear passenger side quarter panel.

The driver was able to drive her vehicle across Barksdale Boulevard to a parking lot before police arrived. Officers cited her for failure to yield. The train remained stopped on the tracks for about an hour while police and railroad officials conducted separate investigations before it started moving again.
