Mineola couple indicted on child abuse charges

QUITMAN/WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) - A Mineola couple accused of child abuse, and a Gilmer woman accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon are among more than a dozen East Texans indicted by a Wood County grand jury this month.

The Wood County District Attorney's Office released the Aug. 9 indictments from the 402nd District County grand jury today.

Kenneth Ennis Salazar, 58, was arrested in May 2011 for sexually assaulting a child on May 1, 2009. He was released from the Wood County Jail the following day on $20,000 bond.

Jurors also indicted 62-year-old Nadine Potter Salazar, who lives at the same Mineola address, for third degree injury to a child that recklessly caused serious bodily injury. She is out of jail on $10,000 bond for the April 23, 2011, incident.

If convicted, he could face between five and 99 years or life in prison. She faces up to 10 years in prison.

Jessica Nicole Bryan, 22, of Gilmer, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of aggravated assault. She is out of jail on $20,000 bond after her May 9 arrest for an April 25 incident in Wood County.

Also indicted Aug. 9 were:

Aaron Chase Adams, of Mineola, for burglary of a habitation;

Daniel Gene Ashley, of Murchison, for assault/family violence causing bodily injury by strangulation-enhanced;

John Davis Moore, of Sulphur Springs, for burglary of a habitation-enhanced;

Taylor Alan Moore, of Winnsboro, for evading arrest in a vehicle;

Justin Kyle Fitzgerald, of Mineola, for possession of a controlled substance;

Jennings Michael Gatlin, of Quitman, for failing to register as a sex offender;

David Matthew Joiner, of Mineola, for assault/family violence with a previous conviction of the same charge;

Joe Don Lee, of Quitman, for assault/family violence;

Reba Kay Shaw, of Tyler, for fraudulent use or possession or identifying information;

James Lee Spurgeon, of Mineola, for tampering with witness statements; and,

Brandy Ray Swart, of Hawkins, with driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years or age.
