LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A Henderson man on probation for assault remains jailed today after police said he stabbed his girlfriend's pregnant daughter in the arm on Monday.

According to an arrest affidavit, Longview police officer David Gray responded to a home in the 1000 block of Rayburn Drive shortly after 6 p.m. Monday on a reported stabbing. The victim showed police a small puncture wound on the tricep area of her left arm, and though the wound did not appear serious, she was evaluated by Longview EMS because she is seven months' pregnant.

The victim told police that her mother's boyfriend, James Andrew Alexander, stabbed her with a small pocket knife and left the scene with her mother in a white van, according to records.

Another Longview officer located the van at the corner of Young Street and Eastman Road a few minutes later. The officer found Alexander in possession of a small lockblade pocket knife.

The victim said she has lived in the same household with Alexander and her mother for several months. Online jail records show that Alexander listed the Rayburn Drive address as his residence in March, when Gregg County Court-at-Law No. 1 Judge Becky Simpson sentenced him to 15 months' probation for a 2010 assault causing bodily injury offense.

Alexander remains in the Gregg County Jail on $10,000 bond, charged with first degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. An emergency protective order was placed between him and the victim.
