UPDATE: The 9-month-old baby, who was found unresponsive in a bathtub has died. Tyler Police say Charlotte Rodriguez died at 10:30 last night.
Tyler police tell CBS 19 the mother of the nine-month-old put the child in the bathtub with her 22-month-old sister. The mother told police she turned on the shower and positioned the shower head toward the wall. The water ran down the wall and into the bathtub.
Police said the mother didn't put the stopper in the drain. She walked into the bedroom to do something and when she came back, the tub was full and child was lying in the water unresponsive.
Child Protective Services is investigating. The 22-month-old sister has been placed in the care of another relative. The family does have a history with CPS.
TYLER/SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - A baby fighting for her life tonight after nearly drowning in a bathtub.
Police responded to a call just after four this afternoon at 7415 Hollyoak in Tyler.
nine-month-old Charlotte Rodriguez was found unresponsive in a bath tub.
She was treated at the scene brought to Trinity Mother Frances then flown to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
