KILGORE/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Recently, the Kilgore Police Department has noticed an influx of vagrants camping within the city.

They usually choose secluded locations in wooded areas. Vagrants camping create sanitation and safety issues for the public. Camping in the city is prohibited by ordinance.

If you see any evidence of a person or persons camping please notify the Kilgore Police Department immediately at 903-983-1559.

We do have local programs to assist folks which the Department is aware of and does offer to those in need and are willing to participate. Unfortunately some choose not to participate for various reasons. For example, our last camp we discovered contained a subject who was committing thefts in the area.
