No injuries in hit-and-run of Mount Vernon school bus

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN COUNTY (KYTX) - There were no reported injuries and no "real damage" to a school bus rear-ended this afternoon, but authorities say they want to find the culprit who fled the scene.

"Absolutely," Franklin County Sheriff Paul Fletcher Jr. said. "State law requires that, when you have an accident, you stop and render aid."

Fletcher said that a golden brown truck pulling a camper rear-ended a Mount Vernon ISD school bus on FM 115 at CR SE 4265, about two miles south of Interstate 30. The truck then fled the scene in an unknown direction, he said.

No injuries were reported, though children on the bus were checked out by emergency medical personnel before they were released to their parents.

If you have information about the incident, call the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 903-537-4539.
