PALESTINE/ANDERSON COUNTY (KYTX) – A Houston couple was jailed last weekend for stealing more than $12,000 worth of railroad tie plates at the Texas State Railroad Park.

According to the Palestine Herald-Press, 32-year-old Famous Varela Joseph and 43-year-old Mary Sanchez tried to take 866 tie plates, valued at $14 each, from the Texas State Railroad.

They face state jail felony charges of theft over $1,500 but under $20,000. They have been released from the Anderson County Jail each on $10,000 bond.
