EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - High pressure aloft is anchored across West Texas and still has the most influence on our weather.

High temperatures will reach 98 to 100 degrees through Friday under mostly sunny skies. The high will shift to the west and allow a trough to plunge southward from Canada by the weekend.

A cold front will arrive Saturday with a chance of thunderstorms followed by cooler than normal early September temperatures into next week. Highs will be in the mid 80s Saturday through Monday. Lows will drop into the low 60s Sunday through Tuesday.
