LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - The Longview Police Department and the Safe Riders Program developed by the Texas Department of Transportation hosted a child passenger safety technician class during the last week of August.
Several citizens and Police officers from three different agencies learned the basics of car seat safety and installation.
This event culminated on Friday with a free car seat inspection station located in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 515 E Loop 281. Sixteen people had their vehicles checked for proper installation of their child safety seats.
Since several cars had more than one car seat, a total of 26 car seats were installed correctly.
The next event is planned for Sept. 29 at Louis Morgan Drug located at 110 Johnston Street in Longview. For more information, contact Officer James Bray at 903-399-4724.
